With over 30 years in the trade myself and the last person to serve a full apprenticeship at the only major workshop in the UK, my concerns do grow daily to where the next generation of Piano Technicians will come from ? little or no interest from school leavers over the last 10 years leaves me wondering where this skill set will eventually go. I never intended to become a piano technician but I guess this trade runs through our family veins, with 2 generations of Leverett’s maintaing the highest quality of piano craftmanship possible.

I feel extremely lucky and honoured to have served under my father Colin Leverett and his brother Derek Leverett. Honing my skills and passing on techniques that would have been lost. I to will one day pass these onto my son’s, I hope they take them to heart.

I heard once that if you find a carrier you love, you will never have to work another day again !!! Thank you dad x
